This research projects aimed to create a set of sand beach cleaning tools adequate to the commonly found ocean debris, specially microplastics. Departing from the concepts of activism, ideological objects were designed, blending the symbolism of the ambientalism cause with the significances of the materials and manufacturing process. One set of bucket wooden sieve with a tinsmith shovel and a catch all sand sieve were designed and produced for different users, children and adults.
There was a focus on highlighting the relation between the systems of production and consumption, which in a generalized way is the cause for the pollution found on the beaches. Therefore, the products use artisanal and semi industrial production techniques which were manufactured with the support of specialized craftsmen and myself.
